I have a Bosch SMS6032. It seems that we didn’t tighten the salt compartment lid enough last time we filled it – and we now have salt residue on clean dishes. The lid was on, but not fully tight.

What can I do to fix this? Am I likely to be looking at a new softner? If so can anyone give me an idea of how much this is likely to cost for the part? Can I fit this myself (I’m handy with a screwdriver, but know nothing about dishwashers) or do I need to call an engineer?

    any help gratefully received.

    thanks
    Doug

Run it empty but with detergent a few times. This should effectively sluice out any excessive salt desidues. Try not to think about replacing salt chambers and softeners, even we professionals develop a bit of a twitch at the thought of it.

Thanks Penguin45 – followed your advice and its all sorted now. Phew. I thought that was going to be an expensive mistake, but I think I’ve got away with it 🙂
