does anyone know if these S.A.M test meters are for sale anywhere or are they just for whirlpool eng’s? if they are available, where to buy and how much? are they worth it ????? i had aproblem with a w’pool d/washer module, took it to my mate (who then worked for w’pool,) he connected the module to said S.A.M. and 10 secs module reset working perfectly. unfortunately since ive come back off hols, he’s left w’pool and they took the meter off him 😥

    Hi,

    our mate SAM……

Yes you can buy, they retail around £200 ish (cant remember) – to the Whirlpool partners PM me if you are interested.

But there are a few pros & cons (of course)

SAM is an aid, not the answer to all your prayers. It will help with fault codes, reprogramming boards, and even gives test program walk throughs – but it is not always correct, so you need to use a bit of good old fault finding as well. Leads are supplied, but are a bit fragile & are expensive to replace & with no auto power off they chew through batteries as our guys cant get the hang of an on/off switch!

You also need to bear in mind that it needs updating fairly often for the new products that come out – these updates are around once a month, so if you dont have access to the whirlpool partners site you cant update. Having said all that, if you only use it for out of warranty, you dont need an upto date database so twice a year may be ok for you. I understand that whirlpool may be making provision to do this on a ‘post in with a cheque’ basis.

to sum up, our guys would not be without the SAM – but then we do 80 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} whirlpool.

pm if you have any queries
