    my fridge stopped working, i have checked the fuse and its not that, when i opened the freezer door the light flickered and than it went off, it tripped the electrics, i reset electric trips but now there is no power in fridge, no lights no noise nothing, can someone help me please, where do I start looking and what could be the problem? many thanks.

    It is most likely the defrost heater has shorted out and it has blown the safety fuse.

    It will need to be checked by an engineer to replace the heater and fuse and to make sure it has not burnt through the evaporator.

    Thanks for your advise, do you how much does this normally cost, the fridge is nearly 13 years old and I wonder is it worth spending money to fix or shuld I just buy a new one ?

    It should be worth it.
    It depends on if the insulation has been damaged by the defrost heater over heating.

    This model had a lot of problems but is still better than the new Samsung.

    If it is the age you say then it may pay to invest in a new one.

    If you decide to replace it I would buy a Daewoo.

    This make is normally reliable and Bosch / Siemens American style are just rebadged Daewoo but cost 3 Times as much.
