    My Samsung B1215J BigWash front-loader did a wash fine, but when the ‘open door’ button was pressed there was a loud pop and a flash. We opened the door using the mechanical release. Since then, when some programmes are selected there appears an error message on the display “Ec”. The Samsung website describes this as an abnormal thermistor error. So I guess I need a new thermistor? I’m not even sure what it looks like. Is this a reasonable DIY job? Where can I get one – the ukwhitegoods shop doesn’t list “thermistor”.

    the error codes are there to point you in the right direction, i would not take them as gospel personaly i would unplug it and have a look around inside, a loud pop would lead to physical signs of damage,the thermistor will be on or next to the element.

    Thanks, the PCB shows damage – whether this is wear and tear to make it pop or an underlying problem is not clear.
