samsung control panel

hi

my samsung p1253s washing machine will switch on when i press the power button but then it is as if all buttons are frozen, including the power button
the only way i can turn the machine off is by switching it off at the socket

is this an easily fixable problem? if so, how much would it cost (approx)

or do i need a new control panel? if so, am i just better off buying a new machine?

Have you checked the handbook to make sure that a child lock (if there is one) isn’t on?

you sir, are a genius! in my ‘panic’ i had glossed over the fact the child lock light was on – just checked it and it works!

i thought it was odd that the panel would switch on but then not work
