ParticipantI have to go and look at a samsung side by side F/F Mon. Ive never worked on one of these before.
Apparently where the cold air comes out of the vent to cool the fridge it keeps icing up thought it may be a defrost heater can anyone give me any clues how to get at it and what else it may be ive seen some topics on this site that suggest it may be a thermal fuse grateful for any help Thanks Larry.July 8, 2012 at 4:48 pm #377873richardengineer

I’ve been out to this samsung f/f this morning and tried to get the panel off at the bottom off the fridge to check the sensor, But it wouldn’t come off its got 4 screws holding it but seems to be stuck on as well didn’t like to pull to hard as I’m not sure what’s behind it altogether or should I be going for the longer panel which starts at the top,Some help needed if poss Thanks Larry.

taking the top panel makes it easier but it is possible without. have you got the 2 screws under the 2 small grills where the air fresheners are? Once all the screws are out it will pull off put there are also 4 plastic hooks, 2 on each side which need prising out. Think these are indicated by an arrow by each of them, a flat blade will release. Be carefull though as it may be frozen to the evaporator.

If you have removed all the screws then it is just frozen to the evaporator do not try pulling it of until you defrost it as you can damage the evaporator or cover.
You can use a wallpaper steamer to defrost it but be carefull you do not over heat the sensor or thermal fuse
