Participant😕 Mod RL33SBNS. Went out to this upright fridge freezer. 4 of the 5 LED’s were flashing continuous, the fridge was warm and there was an intermitant sound like the fan “catching” coming from the freezer. When i had a look the evaporator was clear of ice and the fan was running fine. I discovered the motorised baffle that regulates airflow up to the fridge was frozen shut hence the strange noise as the motor kicked in. As soon as i unstuck the baffle it started rotating round freely and the LED’s stopped flashing and i checked the airflow up to the fridge which was fine.Job done! I’ve now got to go back monday cos customer says fridge is still warm although LED’s are still normal and no noise. Any pointers from anyone familiar with this fridge would be welcome. Ps I noticed that when the baffle was rotating, it just seemed to go round and round and stop in different positions. Im wondering if where it got stuck the strange noise could have been the gearing or the baffle spindle slipping so its now misaligned with the opening…….If that makes sense.
Thanks Subs

Hi
The duct between the freezer and fridge will be blocked with ice, there are two.Whilst there remove the silocone duct seal arround the flap and dispose of it.
first one is where the flap is which goes to the vents in the fridge rear panel and the second is at the bottom right of the freezer just behind the evaperaotor which goes up behind the salad box.
Use a wallpaper steamer of switch off for 24 hrs with both doors open.

Cheers Bryan! I didn’t discover the second duct in the bottom right corner cos i didn’t bother to remove the second panel as i could see the evaporator was clear of ice. Ill check it out.(Does the panel just pull off?) 🙂

Hi
The front panel pulls off then there are 2 screws next to the fan,the inner panel will then unclip from the sides.

Participantthey have brought out a new version to stop this from happening.
But they are not compatible with the older rl33 as they have changed the wiring.
Gues what last week went to one that has the problem and its one with the new type evaprater cover.
They had this problem years ago and solved it but since this unit was made in china its come back.
This will haunt them till this unit ceases to be in production.

Hi all
Have tried the silocone and its not as effective as the removal of the gasket, the customers dont have temprature problems either, the new evap covers havent cured the problem either as we fitted a couple but the fault came back, once the gasket was removed..not a recall.

Yep! Been back and found bottom duct obstructed with small block of ice, removed that along with baffle gasket, now all working fine. Warned customer its a design fault so could possibly accur again, to cover my ass! He’s happy, I’m happy (even though i had to go back) at least i’ve learnt something which is always good.
cheers everyone!

Hi Bryan
I work for myself! The customer told me he had contacted Samsung and the fridge was just out of warranty. I didn’t ask but i geuss they quoted for a service call and the customer decided to try and ring around for someone local and cheaper!
