Samsung fridge freezer error codes – SR-S2028CVW model

Having bother with my samsung SR-S2028CVW symptoms identical to the ones posted in
I have looked at the detailed help sheets on this forum for the Samsung but they seem to be concentrating on the RS21 model.

I have tried pressing the top to buttons to see is a segment of the digits lights up to show the fault but its blank, not sure if it will work anyway as the top 2 buttons on mine are quick freeze and vacation (and there are only 4 buttons) the picture on the guide shows 6 buttons with the top 2 being power freeze and power cool. Earlier in the guide it says to get the error codes up you switch the power off and on then see what appears on the display before it goes back to its full readings. When i do this i get a full digit 3.
Does this mean i have 5 errors as 3 is made up of 5 segments of does the 3 refer to a single error, number 3 on the chart in the RS21 guide (bottom right vertical segment) is a R-DEF SENSOR, which i assume is the defrost sensor, what does the R bit mean. Is this error message correct or a red herring.
Assuming it is the defrost sensor and i put in a new one will this sort out the faults with the fridge AND the freezer as they are BOTH not working properly or do i need to put a similar new part in the freezer unit somewhere
