    Hi there,

I wonder if someone might be able to give me a little advice please?

My parents’ fridge freezer (Samsung RL40SCSW) is about 4 years’ old and has been problem free until yesterday. It still appears to be on and has a light and background hum as usual, but it’s not cooling or freezing at all.
It appeared that the freezer must have gone first (they found soft ice cream and soggy fish etc.)but the fridge light and noise were still there. Then the next day, they noticed that the fridge was now warmer than usual and put this down to/hoped it was the weather, however, decreasing the temperature level made no difference at all.

I’m new on here and haven’t got a clue about fridges but I’ve checked through the help pages and forum and it does appear that it’s a thermostat problem(?).
I guess my main concern is that, from what I’ve read, it looks like we may have real problems getting a Samsung repaired?

My parents are pensioners and to be honest, funds are a bit low at the moment. Will a repair be very expensive and if so, would they be better off cutting their losses and getting a new model? I have to say the Samsung is in great condition otherwise – apart from not functioning, obviously!

Any advice on what we should do next would be much appreciated (and so sorry if I’ve gone on a bit!)

    Many thanks,

    Jan
