ParticipantSeems that I have a problem that has been referred to on this forum and others.. but not sure what to do.
Temperature creeps up on fridge and freezer and it sounds like fans have stopped running. Switching off and restarting does seem to get the appliance running again and the temperatures return to normal. After a couple of hours, same happens. Appliance goes quiet and temperatures rise quickly.
I followed the advice on another forum about checking to see if fridge fan has frozen, but it wasn’t.
Fixable?Model is SR-2029 CSS

so.. do I need the evaporator cover, thermal fuse and defrost sensor kit that I’ve read about elsewhere? At the moment I am resetting (switching off and back on) every few hours!
Thanks
Could do with some urgent feedback.. do I sell the freezer?June 26, 2007 at 6:44 am #218240Dales-Electronic

You probably need an evaporator cover, and sensor with perhaps a thermal fuse but if you dont want to just throw spares at it I suggest you get an engineer in – for your parts Shop@, for an engineer (make sure they do Samsung) repairs@

Thanks for that.
I’ve looked at the spares section but there seems to be more than 1 sensor. (Or am I being stupid?) (Don’t answer that….)
Which do I need?
Thanks again

Hi Sybatt
let the fridge freezer run for at least 12 hours then hold the top right and top left together for approx 20 seconds.
This will bring a display up which should show a bar,let me know where this bar is and that will help solve your problem, dont order the evaperator cover yet.
which section is the temp rising in ?

Hello Bryan
Although the fridge/freezer hasn’t been on for 12 hours yet (I re-started it about an hour ago), I tried what you said. First of all the whole panel lights up, then it all goes off. The display stays blank for about 20 seconds then returns to normal. When it was off, there were no bars. Both the fridge and freezer temperatures go up. This is after the fan (?) goes off and all goes quiet. Fridge eventually up to 18/19 degrees, freezer up to around 5 or 6. If I turn everything off and then back on again, the appliance seems to restart and the temperatures start to drop again.
At the weekend, I took the cover off as I had heard that the fan sometimes ices over. It seemed ok and was able to spin pretty freely.
Thanks

Hi Sbybatt
As stated you have to have the applince running for 12 hours before doing this test.

Bryan… tried the test again this morning and it’s still blank. Held top right, top left buttons; everything lights up then everything goes blank. After around 20 seconds, display returns to normal. Currently flashing on -20 for freezer and 3 for fridge. Appliance silent.
Turned it off and back on, freezer now on 5 and fridge on 12. Can now be heard “working”.

Hi
Then the problem lies within one of the defrost units, there are 2 take your pick on which ever you want to try first or advise an engineer visit.

Thanks Bryan
I’ve looked at the spares page and I’m not sure which sensor I need. Is the fridge and freezer sensor the same? Apologies if this is getting to be a bit of a pain!

Thanks…
My plan is to replace them both (‘cos both the fridge and freezer keep “Overheating”?) and cross my fingers!!!!

Does American style means it only works for six months; I had a Harley once? 2nd machine now, 1st one kept freezing in the fridge and the fan eventually broke as it was impinging on the ice. Several replacement parts later and the whole thing was then replaced. ‘New’ one (six months old) and the fridge temp was a lie albeit the fan wasn’t noisy. Engineer told me to switch it off for 24 hours – seemed like a good idea only the thing won’t switch back on again – at least the freezer was working before I left it off.
It’s arrogantly winking at me with just one small line of LEDs – it know something that I don’t. Despite it’s obvious weight advantage I still fancy my chances dragging it outside and giving the beastly thing a sound kicking.
Help, please. -
