ParticipantHello,
I come asking for assistance please.
I made a purchase of a second hand Samsung Cool n cool Fridge/Freezer 5 months ago. I chose to buy second hand due to our previous F/F dying completely and us not having sufficient funds to purchase a new one.
It was supposed to only be 18 months old at the time.
The model number is: SL39WJ1/XEU
The Serial Number is: 41AN202062 BI did not get the proof of purchase from the original owner and there was no manual available.
Now I am in deep trouble with egg on my face and I need your help please.
This F/F has a computer controlled temp and display. The entire F/F keeps shutting itself off completely. I mean completely it turns off and then comes back on again.
When it comes back on ALL the lights on the display light up, you can hear the fan ( I think ) come on and then there is a click and it beeps twice and then it shuts of completely.
Sometimes it comes on and you can hear what we think is the compressor coming on in the super mode as it is loud and then it shuts of beeping twice.
This just keeps happening over and over. We unplugged the F/F and wait 1 hour and then plugged it back in hoping the computer would reset itself.
It did not.
Now I sit here with a full F/F of food and it not working properly and a repair centre hooked with Samsung saying because I don’t have the original proof of purchase I am going to be charged £200 per hour to come out.. I honestly do not have the amount of money and I really am hoping that either someone has a service/repair manual we can borrow OR someone who is willing to talk my husband (who was an electronic engineer) through what steps to take even if it means taking the thing apart which I believe he is capable of doing if he knows what to look for and how to fix it .
Thank you all in advance for helping
Sarah

ParticipantSarah,
Don’t panic, there are any number of good refrigeration bods on UKW who can offer some advice, or service if required; certainly at considerably less than £200/hr. 🙄The only problem at the moment is the holiday season, not everyone is about or working. If you could pop up your postcode, a local member should be able to advise you.

I can confirm the dating for you, the 18 months is correct as the unit was 1st produced in 2003.
As Penguin says, let us know your postcode, someone here should be able to help with a service visit.
Dave.

Participantmanufacturing date
hi Dave
I have called Samsung to see if they would do the work under warranty since it was manufactured in 2003.
However, they said it was made in Feb 2000. I am absolutely gutted. I was told this was only 18 months old when I bought it and was quite hapay when you confirmed the 2003 now I am devestated actually.
I still would like the user manual or if someone has the repair persons manual then hubby can have a go at the repair.
thanks in advance
Sarah

Sarah,
The trade’s experience with Samsung has not been the best and you’ll find a lot of the guys won’t touch them due to issues with spares and technical information, so if we struggle for technical information I doubt that you’ve much chance of getting any from Samsung. All repairs for Samsung refrigeration products are handled by Expert Appliance Care to my knowledge and, in all honesty, you’ve got a far better chance of them being able to do a first time fix on the machine but I’ve no idea where the £200 an hour came from as I don’t think that Expert charge anywhere near that amount.
The point is that they’re liable to have spares on the van or be able to get them from base pretty sharpish and it sounds as if you may well have a PCB failure on the machine. The last time I priced one it was about £100 for the part, but it could be other things as it’s very hard to diagnose these kinds of faults remotely. As for a schematic for the PCB, forget it, it won’t exist even in the service literature I should imagine.
As you are not the original purchaser of the machine there’s little that Samsung (or most of the other manufacturers) will do to help you financially I’m afraid. Added to which you have no proof of purchase as, at the age claimed, you would have some limited comeback where it not for the fact that the appliance is second hand in effect.
Not good news I know, but at least you know the score.

Hi Sarah!
I’ve been having the exact same problem with my Samsung fridge freezer that you had with yours – clicking on and off etc. Did you ever get yours fixed and if so by whom and how much?

Hello all.
I am looking for a replacement light for this fridge freezer. I have had no luck with the usual B+Q etc. I have searched to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve got a problem with an SRL3928, however a user manual, for what it’s worth, is available off the Samsung website URL below. I don’t know if this is technical enough

Enjoy
