I have a Samsung RS21DCNS side-by-side fridge that I purchased from the UK and had shipped to our home in Leros, Greece.

We discovered an issue here that the local water is very salty, and so do not want to connect the fridge to the main water supply. We plan to fit an external header tank, for which I understand we need a pump.

Being on a small Greek island, resources here are limited, to say the least ! We have tried to find a suitable pump here, but no luck so far. Anyone have any ideas on what we might use, and/or anywhere we mikght find a supplier in the UK who could send one to us?

Alternatively, has anyone out there had any experience of using an external header tank, any ideas how high it would need to be to supply sufficient pressure without a pump ?

Thanks much for any suggestions !

I would have thought that you would not need a pump to feed water into the fridge/freezer as long as the water level was above the top of the unit. I would suggest that the fill time for the ice maker would have to be increased to allow for the small head of water but water into the chilled water system should be able to fill by gravity. As a trial what I would try is to connect the fill hose up to a large bottle of water have someone hold it up near the ceiling and then press the levers at the front and see if water comes out. Best of luck.

Thank you very much for your advise, we will try a gravity fed system to see if it works, that would certainly make it a lot easier if that worked.
