Samsung P1253GW/XEU with strange fault

I have a Samsung P1253 with a strange fault. The main label has worn off the back so I cannot give most of the machine details. I can discern the following :
P1253GW/XEU Serial number W8045ADP301018Z.

The fault is that I turn the machine on, set it up, and when I press the start button all I get is an alarm. There is no fault code registering on the display.

Thinking it was probably the control panel gone wrong, I purchased another control panel and still get the same response.

I can kill the alarm by holding in the pause button for a while. then when I press it again the alarm starts. It is I think a three tone tune it is playing.

I have checked the usual things like cleaning out the rubbish collection filter, checked the door is shut, the water is still connected, etc..

The machine ran fine until the other morning when this happened without any warning. 😮

I have a disabled wife to cope with so any help would be appreciated as the washing is mounting up!! 🙁
