Samsung P1453 drain hose replacement

Will a “universal” drain hose work on the Samsung P1453 washing machine, or do we have to get the Samsung spare?

Looking at Samsung spares, the hose seems to have a black plastic right-angle fixing at the machine end, but I can’t figure out whether this is integral to the hose, or I could just attach a universal hose to it.

This is to help out a friend who has just gone through a very traumatic house move, and spending £25 on a hose if a £3-£4 replacement from Screwfix would do the trick is not something she can easily afford.

At the moment it’s sealed with self-amalgamating tape, but I don’t know how long that will hold.

I always like to go with the name brand. You can often make generic parts work, but they are not often guaranteed. I would go with the Samsung brand and call it a day. What do others think?
