Custromer has asked me to investigate and write report on this appliance for excessive power consumption.This appliance has digital inverter compressor fitted and according to samsung should consume 299 kwh per year.For the last three weeks customer has recorded power usage of this appliance constantly using an eon smart reader and i have checked these against the installed meter on the board,they are correct.Basically for a ten hour night period when everything else in the house is switched off the reader indicates about 105w per hour which equates to a kilowatt.So therefore 365kwh just for the night periods for a year.The compressor rarely turns off other than a fifteen minute defrost,no backfreezing,compressor temp normal and cabinet temps at factory defaults are easily and constantly maintained.Samsung seem happy the fridge freezer is working and havent commented on the power usage.Seems to me the customer is going to get some hefty power bills for what should be an eco appliance.Comments welcome.

And the questions that should be asked
Is there central heating ?
underfloor heating ?
ambient temp ?
how often is door opened ?
for how long is the door opened ?
how full is the freezer ?
how full is the fridge ?
what is stored in the freezer ?
do they use the ice maker ?
how much ice do they use ?
do they use the water dispenser ?
how often and how much water ?
do they adjust the drawers for different temperatures ?
is the food thats put into the freezer already frozen at -20 ?
is the fresh food already chilled to +3oc ?And thats just a start of the questions they will have to prove as ALL these factors have to be taken into account.
