ParticipantI have a Samsung RL37LGIH and the Thermal Fuse has blown twice now after two repair attempts. This results in a warm fridge and a cold freezer.
I have attempted now to repair twice.
Repair One
The steps I took were as follows
Defrost fridge freezer fully
Test all components resistance (rises and falls with sensors) and continuity (across heater, fan etc), all seem OK (apart from thermal fuse – no continuity)
Replace thermal fuse
Turn on fridge
Heater seemed to work, but freezer wen’t quite warm for a short period
Freezer returns to normal
After around 2.5 weeks, fridge gets warmer and stops cooling
Freezer works fine throughout
Back of freezer covered in white frostRepair Two (as above but replaced circuit board)
Replace main PCB
Defrost fridge freezer fully
Test all components resistance (rises and falls with sensors) and continuity (across heater, fan etc), all seem OK (apart from thermal fuse – no continuity)
Replace thermal fuse (2nd replacement)
Turn on fridge
Heater seemed to work, but freezer wen’t quite warm for a short period
Freezer returns to normal
After around 2.5 weeks, fridge gets warmer and stops cooling
Freezer works fine throughout
Back of freezer covered in white frostI was wondering could this be due to the placement of a sensor or thermal fuse being incorrect?!

Possibly the thermal fuse is to near the defrost heater or the defrost sensor faulty.

Thanks Bob, when removing the thermal fuse, I ensured it was in exactly the same place as original one that I removed…so still a little confused. Any idea where the defrost sensor is on this model?

The defrost sensor fits at the bottom of the freezer evaporator on this model ( it slides in at the bottom ).
The sensor has the yellow plug on it.
Make sure the thermal fuse fits near the back of the evaporator not touching the heater.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the advice. Would you mind if I posted a picture of the current location of both the thermal fuse and the defrost sensor over the next few days and could you please advise me if in the correct location currently?

The thermal fuse should sit in between the cooling coils a bit more.
Hold it in place with cable ties. The place it is in at the moment it may still pick up to much heat from the heater.
By being fitted closer to the evaporator between the coils it should prevent the thermal fuse getting too hot.
The hight of the fuse is about right

Thanks very much Bob.
I will order a new fuse, cable tie it in place and post a picture for confirmation of correct placement before powering up if you wouldn’t mind advising!
Cheers

Hi Bob,
Ordered a new fuse. Cable tied in place. Would you please be able to confirm that this is the correct placement before I switch on? I was thinking perhaps I now have it to close and it should possibly sit in between the two top coils, almost suspended and instead of the current configuration (as pictured), I add a cable tie at the end of the middle coil, so that is sits in the middle between the top and middle coil rather than where I have it pictured. Would that be the more appropriate position?
Thanks very much!

Yes that looks correct in between the coils and not touching the heater.

I turned the fridge freezer on and thermal fuse has now blown again! Had over 3 hours when the freezer was warm. Freezer then went cold , but the thermal fuse is now blown again. Any ideas what else this could be? I tried a replacement main board with new fuse and same thing…fuse blew.
