if you turn the appliance on at the mains the motor will run for a short while, the fridge will begin to cool. When the motor stops running it needs to be unplugged and plugged back in again to work???

sounds like its not coming back on after defrost,check evaporotor heater,thermal fuse also check the geared motor opens and closes when you open and close fridge door hope this helps regards david.
