Participant😥 f/f purchases march 2003. sensors replaced july2004. 3 weeks ago first the fridge then the freezer stopped working.samsung couldn’t give me an engineer in my area. phoned round myself but when he came both were working fine. he came again and said the sensors had gone again and he would order new ones i havn’t heard from him since. in decperation i began looking on the net and found you. i have taken the back pane of the freezer and it’s frozen solid so defrosted it and fridge and freezer are now working fine. will this last or do i need to replace things.
thanks

In defence of the engineer, Samsung have just moved their spares department from the UK to mainland Europe. Its taking alittle of time for them to get the supply chain going but they are starting to get on top of it now.

wasn’t moaning about the engineer too much just having a bad week. first the fridge went wrong, then the dishwasher, which was just out of guarantee but bosch fixed free anyway. then the back light in the car. sorry sorry should not take it out on the engineer

I have a RS20CCMS which has failed after 2 years and 2 months. I have spent a fortune being passed around by Samsung Customer Care. There is a design fault with this machine which leads it to freeze up inside the machine, stop the fan and then the machine loses temperature. This is diagnosed as gas leak, fan failure, sensor failure compressor failure by various engineers. Check your rights with Trading Standards as you have redress even out of warranty.
This fault affects RS20 AND rs21 UNITS. Check out other review sites and you will see similar tales of woe. Stick to your guns and demand a replacement.

how can i demand a replacement for a fridge/freezer almost 4 years old?
since defrosting the freezer there have been no problems touch wood. do i need to replace the fan or is everything going to be ok now?

hi beetlebug
yes defrosting it cures this fridge freezer problem quite often
if the problem re-occurs frequently, there is a modified evaporator cover available or the thermal fuse is faulty
unfortunately there are people around who, because they bought a fridge freezer that went faulty, think someone else should burden the cost
things break down, its fact, if u read up on fride freezers in general, the amount of times the compressor switches on/off.. how often fans run, its amazing they last as long as they do at times
things change, times change, designs change
see how you gon on.. its not a hard fault to cure if it re-occurs
hope this helps

There is no point asking for a new unit from Samsung-I have a lot of experience with the company and know for a fact that they will turn round and flatly refuse to replace the unit as it is over 24 months old. They are extremely strict when it comes to warranty periods on units. It sucks I know but that is the way that they work
