ParticipantGot this one which goes freezer -10 fridge 9 and frost on freezer back panel. If customer defrosts then fridge and freezer ok for 2-3 weeks. Serial number is 938542BX50 1078V.
Looking at posts a sensor is common in freezer. What is the part number and where can i get it? Also will evap cover need changing? Not repaired the RS20 before.Regards

common fault on the rs 20, seemingly there is no cure,
its to do with moisture coming back from the fridge, this then gathers on the freezer evap, and bingo…
you could try a thermal fuse, and sensor though..
thermal fuse samda47-00095e
sensor samda32-00006b both under £10this one will most likely come back on you, so i would avise customer that repair might not solve prob,

Might be of some interest, although it’s not exactly pertinent to this job. Info was passed to me by one of my workmates.
Fan problems on these appliances can be cured by cutting the drain below the actual fan motor larger. This is how samsung eventually cured this problem. All the other “cures” are now uneccesary. the original drain is about 10 mm wide this should be cut right acroos the whole of the recess to allow water to run away.
the origianal wire can be used on a new fan assy.
this is because it just clips into the fan motor.
the new assy is only req now if the original foam is blown (water ingress).I must be lucky, haven’t had any of these machines to repair….. yet.

I have a Samsung side by side which runs ok until it cycles off-then it won’t come back on again unless the power is switched off and on. I thought at first it was too cold in the garage where I was working on it,but now it’s in a warm house and it’s still doing the same thing. You blokes seem to be up to speed on these cabinets. Any ideas?
I stripped this down to see how it works. It has an evaporator for both freezer and fridge in series, with a heater attached to each. Am I right in thinking the controller keeps the compressor running until the freezer temperature is reached, and controls the ‘fridge temperature by switching the evaporator heater on and off? This model has an ice maker and water dispenser which all work fine – when the unit is running.
I’ve visually checked the wiring connections in the door, the command pad and the board but nothing obvious shows up,moreover no fault codes are displayed.

Ally
Thanks for the advice. I was sort of coming to that conclusion myself but was in self denial. Nice to have another brain on it though.

What’s happened to R600 ❓ He’s UKW’s resident expert on these machines but has been very quiet. Is he on holiday?
Or did he have a heart attack when he heard that Cher’s on at Sibson next week 😥 . No, come to think of it, we haven’t heard from him about that, either :hmm:
