Samsung RS21 – 1KW power Draw, Diff Temp after restart, Overal high running cost .

I was, i think, fortunate to be gifted a Samsung RS21 not sure of the history of it.

I was quite surprised at the running cost which is high. I don’t have separated figures from the rest of the house but it appears higher than it ought to be.

I noticed that the wall between the fridge and freezer where it buts up against the door would sometimes be quite warm.

I Pressed the two buttons at the top and the display just goes blank.

I have added a 10KOhm resistor across the external temp thermister in order to get the fan to run constantly. This seemed to reduce power consumption.

I have changed the 5uF cap as the existing had a reading of 1uF.

When i turn off the FF and then back on. the temps are different to what they were when the it was shut down. Generally fridge is lower as though it is working excessively and not noticing. Settings are 5 & -16. On last check result was 1 & -12 .

Sometimes i note from my smart meter IHD that there is a fairly high power usage of around 1KWh. This happens more frequently when FF has been turned off and then back on. Its as though the compressor should start but does not. I haven’t yet checked the large cap next to the compressor.

Can anybody offer some advice please? despite these issues it seems great. No frosting and produce stay much fresher than my previous hotpoint FF.
