ParticipantHi guys, can anyone tell me how precise the diagnostics are on the rs21 fridge/freezer.I’ve had the visit to install the clip etc about a year 1/2 ago but now the temperature on the fridge has started playing up..I have defrosted the fridge side,a lot of ice behind the panel and it worked for a few days..the diagnostics show No3 r-def-sensor,is it a case of just replacing it ❓

Hi you need to get to the heaters behibe the panel poss one or more is o/c did you fit a new rear panel same time as the clip?

Hi, I thought they did fit a new panel but the more I think about it the less sure I am(it’s an age thing!).I took the panel off when I done the defrost..it does have the black cap defrost sensor and I completly cleared the ice..even then when I applied the diagnostics it showed the R-DEF-SENSOR error indicator.

Self diagnostics are normally pretty reliable. It’s what they can’t detect that causes problems. But what they can’t detect is easily diagnosed with a multimeter

Not quite right on the samsung models..The sensor reading with a multi tester or anything else id a waste of time as they don’t give continued constant readings. Also the correct readings are only available if tested at a continued constant ambient temperature.
The defrost sensor is changed at all points where there is a defrost fault full stop..

sensors can be tested with a multimeter, you just use volts while the fridge in on, rather than resistance with the fridge off.
Volts are what the controller reads, and that’s all that matters.
Volts good, then the fridge will work. -
