Participanti recently fixed my RS21 with the common defrost prob on the fridge. this new prob occurred before about a year ago and i don’t think it’s related to the defrost issue.
the control panel keeps sporadically beeping on it’s own and adjusting the temp of the freezer to colder setting. when this happened previously, i removed the front control panel display and disconnected the plug to the panel and the fridge worked fine with the display disconnected. when i plugged it back in about a week later, all was fine again – until this week when the phantom beeping started up again. i’ve disconnected it again and hopefully it will ‘reset’ again.
anyone have any ideas of what the problem is??

Most likely the control buttons sticking on the display panel.
They sometimes stick and press against the buttons on the display PCB.
Lubricate the buttons with silicone spray.

Hi,
Did you ever get this fixed? I too have an RS21 and have been getting the same beeping, with power cool engaging on and off sporadically. To see if it was a sticking PCB switch, I engaged “Child Lock”, as this will disable the buttons. This stopped the beeping so far, but now none of the buttons work, and I am unable to turn off the child lock 🙁 (I am holding the button down). Even after disconnecting the power for 20 mins, it still shows child lock and I cannot disable.
Based on the above, I have come to the conclusion the display PCB must have a fault, so would like to replace. Do you mind me asking how you removed the display to get at the PCB? I presume it is from the front, or do I need to undertake from the inside door?
PS. Forgot to say, I did try some silicone spray onto the button (to absorb through the button gaps), but no joy.
Cheers

You have to remove the display from the front it just clips on.
You have to start at the bottom you will see two small slots at the bottom where you can fit a flat screwdriver and twist then you have to slide the screw driver around the sides going carefully not to scratch the paint.
To refit you just have to push it or hit it with the side of your hand to clip it on.
Check the rubber and plastic backing between the PCB and buttons is not miss aligned as this may be the problem.

Just as an update and to help anyone else in the future.I removed the surround and circuit board, sprayed the switches with some silicone and cleaned the board and reseated. So far, three days later, the display is working fine and no beeping or engaging power cool 🙂
Thanks again to Bob and others for their assistance.
