    Hi,
Back in August I had the usual trouble with the fridge, and a new fan motor and defrost sensor sorted it out – now works perfectly. But…

Freezer evaporator ices up every 4-5 weeks, have to switch off to defrost for 24+ hours (now got in the habit of freezing ice packs to put in the fridge while I do this, then fridge only warms up by about 2 degrees during freezer “reset”!).

Error code shows centre horizontal bar on right hand digit, freezer side, which I understand means freezer has not completed a defrost cycle in last 8 hours or so. Could someone confirm this, please, or does it mean something different? Also is there a way to “force” a freezer defrost cycle? I do not know of any engineer’s code to do this, and it would be a great help in diagnostics. Fan is working fine. I’ve changed the defrost sensor, and checked thermal fuse. Also checked the resistance in the defrost heater. Just don’t know where to go with it next!

Need a kind engineer to guide me, I think….

    Hi

It’ll be the defrost sensor or thermal overload,I havent changed a heater in the freezer section in the past 3 years.

Thanks for that, but as I said, I’ve changed the defrost sensor and checked the thermal overload. Any other ideas?

ps My Alfa diesel engine dropped a big end, and everyone said that never happens too. Just a thought…
