    Hello there

I recently purchased a second hand Samsung American Style Fridge/Freezer. I’ve had it just under a month and I’m finding I need to remove the evaporator cover (the back panel) and melt the ice around every two weeks. I wouldn’t normally mind that but it can take a while for the fridge to thaw enough to be able to remove the back panel so it makes it about a two hour job (although I managed it a bit quicker today by using a hot water bottle to help thaw the panel out.

I’ve done a bit of reading about the issue and realised that my panel is actually the one people buy to fix this issue (the one with the metal clip on the back). I believe my issue might not be the cover but the metal tray at the bottom (however the fan whirl is the first sign it is happening).

I’ve taken some photographs and was wondering if anyone could confirm this. From reading the guides online and looking at replacement parts I am supposed to have a wire (Fridge Defrost Sensor?) that goes into the bottom drainage tray (where does this drainage tray drain to?) but mine doesn’t appear to have that.

Thanks to anyone who can take a look. Still trying to figure out where to upload them as attachments on her are limited to 19kb.

Mine had this issue and though they fitted a redesigned panel and reprogramming pcb settings it still never lasted for more than 1 year , my defrost sensor was attached to the back of the panel , its about 6-7 pounds on ebay for original sensor cable most likely that could be the issue here hence its freezing up but honestly these things are designed badly and im no expert (google law suits samsung usa)
