ParticipantHi i have similar problems to those listed elshwere on this website. Basically my fridge/frezer is a samsung RS21DCSV(american side-by-side). The problem is that the freezer is working perfectly at the correct temperature but the fridge is not cooling. Its like almost 10 degrees and is rising. The fridge is also making a noise.
All this happend a couple of weeks ago so i opended the panel in the fridge (twin cooling written). I found a whole load of ice around the motor and everywhere. Fridges aren’t supposed to have that much ice. I got rid of the ice by letting it melt and then got rid of the excess water. Then put it all back together again. This lasted 2 weeks and today i have the same problem(motor/fan making noise, i think due to ice build u). Im not sure what part/s have gone and would like to know if anyone has any idea of this sort of thing or would i have to pay a fortune for an engineer. I am competent with this things and just need to know which part to replace so i could fit it myself and save some money.
thank

Hi M8, I was having the exact same problem for the last few days and had a look arond the forums for some help. Your post proved invaluable as it led me to the problem area right away. (Iced up drain at bottom of motor) Have put it all back together and it seems to be on the right track, I’ll let you know if the problem is cured.

Have had similar problems with my samsung fridge freezer, but just thought I would let you know you get a 2yr warrenty with these from samsung, and feel after looking at this website and the number of people who are having the same problems we should all complain to samsung.

I did not know it was a 2 year guarantee. I agree that we should all complain about this as it would appear to be a design fault. I will keep a check on mine and if it happens again (I’ve got about 3 months of a 2 year guarantee left) then a swift call will be the order of the day. many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Engineer arrived today fridge was making terrible noise for a few days and then stopped working although it still was cold at bottom. Changed the fan to one with a shield on to stop ice forming on fan again and also changed the sensors on the evaporator, well this is what he told me. When I asked him if this was a common problem with these fridge freezers got no reply.
