ParticipantI have a Samsung fridge freezer model RS21FCSV serial number 847243CW500375 X. I have had it for over 8 years without any problems until now when I realise the fridge is no longer cooling although the freezer is working fine. I have read various threads on this forum but am not sure which parts to buy to repair it. Can you tell me what I need to get to repair it? Many thanks.

It depends on the fault.
It may be just the rear panel in the fridge or a defrost heater fault.
If you get someone to look after your food.
Turn the fridge freezer off at the mains and allow it to defrost for 48 hours with the doors open.
If it takes a couple of weeks for the fault to return it will be the defrost heater at fault.
It is better to buy a service kit for the heater this comes with the sensor and cut out as well.
You may also have to replace the rear panel at the same time as it is eight years old.
If it takes a couple of months for the fault to return then it is most likely just the rear panel you will need to replace.
Both jobs you are better off getting an engineer to repair.

Thank you for your reply, I will do as you suggested to ID the fault and then order the parts.
You mentioned that with both jobs I would be better off getting an engineer to do the repairs. Are both parts very difficult to fit? I used to work as an electronics technician and have done repairs on washing machines, cookers and dryers. Could I do the repairs myself? MichaelApril 7, 2015 at 8:10 am #426317SAMURI

If you feel confident to repair it then it is your decision.
If you damage the evaporator or pipe work then it will need regasing and is not a DIY repair.
Before you carry out any work to take it apart in the fridge compartment it has to be fully defrosted or you can damage the evaporator behind the rear panel

Bob, thanks for your reply.
Can you tell me the part numbers for the the defrost heater including the service kit and the rear panel?
I couldn’t see them in your online parts ordering store.

Send a PM to R600a Brian he will be able to supply the parts. ( FFR services )
The heater and sensors come complete with the fridge evaporator this is the cheapest way to purchase them.
You remove the heater and sensor and thermal cut out from the evaporator and fit them to your old evaporator this saves regasing the fridge freezer.
Check to see if the heater has failed first as you may only require a rear panel complete with fan motor.
