Hi, sorry to bother everyone with what seems to be a common problem but can’t see a post with my exact diagnosis….

The site is excellent and I now have run the diagnosis on my Samsung and get two horizontal bars in the bottom right hand display -they are the lowest two possible horizontal bars that could form the 8 humber so it looks like this =

I defrosted the whole fridge freezer two weeks ago and took the bits I could off to ensure it was all defrosted etc and now the fan noise is back and I have frost build up in the lower half of the fridge etc and bad circulation of air I think.

What do I need to do please and could a semi competent DIY er fix it or would it be cheaper overall to call an engineer?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Cambridge

you will have a fault with the defrost system of the fridge section which is the middle segment, this then will cause the fan to jam thus causing the bottom segment to show faulty.

the fault could be either the sensor, heater, thermal overload.

Unless you are compident and know what you are doing them a engineer is recommended.

    Hi,

following on from what I have read. My fan has jammed (blocked with ice) and suspect burnt out the motor as it now does not work and was preceded by a grinding noise. I want to prevent rather than temp cure. What has caused the ice build up? I don’t want to replace just the motor then find the same problem occurs later on. Do I need a defrost sensor?

Also do you know whether the fan motor is the same as the one at the rear of the unit?

    Any help would be great
