    hullo, first post and all.

read some threads on here a couple of weeks ago when the unit started making a load of noise that stopped when the fridge side was opened, thanks to the advice on here i stripped it apart, defrosted it and reassembled.
all has been fine for a couple of weeks but now there is visible frost inside the fridge again, so i’m guessing a part needs replacing.

if i hold the two buttons down on the display, eventually it shows the middle segment of the numeral 8 on the fridge temp side (in line with the degrees symbol) if that helps any of you clever types fault find.

when i had it in bits, a small part on the evaporator assembly did look like it might have burnt out (wish i’d taken a pic now) but couldnt be sure if it had or if it was that black gumstrip they sometimes use to hold things in place.

any help greatly appreciated as i dont really want to have to buy a new fridge if this one can be repaired.

    thanks in advance 😉

The fan doesnt need replacing as they VERY rarely fail.in fact in the 5 yrs ive been a samsung engineer i havent replaced a fan for being faulty. Also bearing in mind the evaperator cover comes as a complete unit and is normally a consiquence of something else that has failed..ie heater, thermal fuse, sensor, drain heater.

e-mail me some pictures of how its frozen up without defrosting it and i will let you know what has failed.

thanks r600a, the frost has started binding on the fan again so i’ll have to pull it apart once more in a day or so (once the wife cooks the chicken etc. thats in there at the mo) so can take plenty of pics 😉
