    Hi all

I have to go and look at one of these on Monday that is apparently leaking out of the freezer, I am suspecting some form of blocked drain hole – the customer has apparently already had the back out to have a look and couldn’t see anything wrong (but then they never can even when it is staring them in the face) – but I was just wondering if they have a foamed in gutter heater (doesn’t seem to be much of a parts list available yet). Does anyone have some more info/wiring diagram/service manual that they could send me please as I don’t often touch these units.

    Thank you

If you take the cover from the rear of the fridge ( the plate that covers the compressor etc ) and look to where the freezer drain drops to a white plastic tube to drain into the hot pipes, there is a black rubber that joins the drain to the pipe; pull this off and it will either be blocked with fluff or the rubber will be tacky causing it to block. I think they call this a ducks bill, as it is designed to shut when no water going through and prevent beasties travelling back up into the freezer compartment but they tend to fail

Well I had a look at it today and the ducks bill was OK even though it didn’t have a slit right across, what I did find was that the top end of the drain hole was frozen over even though the evaporator was clear, now the customer admitted that the unit had been set on -25 and jammed full a few days ago when they first had the fault although it was set at -18 when I went to look and not to badly packed.

I have cleared the hole and checked that the defrost heater is OK and we are going to see what happens over the next few days but I was just wondering if it was possible to alter the defrost time if necessary in these or if there is any mods to the defrost circuit.
