ParticipantHi, I am wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction. I have a Samsung rsh1dbrs and yesterday I was using the ice dispenser.
I was going to a friends BBQ and he wanted loads of ice so I stood there with a bag filling it from the dispenser. That’s when all of a sudden the lights went out and the fridge freezer gave up the ghost. After opening the freezer compartment I could smell electrical burning.
I have removed the ice dispenser unit and it does smell as if the motor has burnt out, but there is still no life to be seen. Fuses have been changed and different outlets used, but I still can’t see any signs of life.
I would have thought that if the ice dispenser unit was a plug and play unit then by removing it I would still get life to the fridge freezer. Could anyone tell me if I get a new ice dispenser unit will it cure it, or could the burning out of the motor have caused damage to other parts of the fridge freezer.
Many thanks for reading this and any advise would be greatly appreciated.

unplug and remove the cover on the top that covers 2 circuit boards ,look at the smaller one of the 2 ,it has fuse in it that will have blown ,from memory its a slow blow so you will have to find one of exactly the same rating from maplins or somewhere

Hi
Your more likely to find that the ice solenoid has burnt out and this causes the mains fuse to blow. the solenoid will need replacing also as the coil melts and will cause a failure of the fuse again and will also stop you choosing crush/ice cube.
I have them in stock

Also r600a. Are you saying that the dispenser assembly will be ok to use?

Hi
You may find that the fuse will blow again due to the failure of the ice solenoid.I’m 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure that this will be your fault.

Hi, again. I have taken the top panel off and found the blown fuse. I am a little concerned as it says on the cover that you are not to replace a fuse, but you should replace the whole board after the fault is rectified.
I think Bryan that you have hit the nail on the head. You say that you stock the solenoid, but do you stock the fuse and or board?
Also how much do I owe you 😉

Hello again.
Sorry it’s been a while but I have been busy.
I would just like to say thankyou for your help and advise. Bryan you were bang on mate, without the solenoid we couldn’t chose which type of ice.
All is up and running and that is down to you.
Thanks again
Cheers
