ParticipantHi,
My fridge freezer is just over 3 years old now, and has developed a problem where the fridge warms up even though the temp display says its fine.
When I examined the fridge and removed the back over I found that the cooling element was all frozen up and the fan also couldn’t spin.
I defrosted it all and the fridge then started to cool properly but 4-5 days later the same thing has happened, do I assume from this that I have a problem with the defrost heater, or defrost temp sensor in the fridge, or the main control PCB??
I’ve googled around and see similar problems with earlier models of this type of side by side freezer, but none that mention the rsh5 series.
I’ve also been able to find the part for defrost heater but not the defrost temp sensor, I notice the defrost heater has what looks like and inline sensor, but again not sure?
Anybody have any experience with these fridge freezers, samsung are refusing to help as outside of warrenty and the company I brought the fridge through are saying they will help under the sale of goods act, but if have to prove that the failure is due to design / manufacture flaw, how do I do that?
so I’m looking at a DIY repair.
Thanks,

They are using the same design as the RS20/RS21/RSH1 ect. same type of rear fan panels that fail and are inherently defective. Same type same problems they will never learn.

Yeah,
Looks like a very similar design to the earlier models, but it has run fine for the last 3 years, so something has failed or not working right any more, question is, is it the fan that is not rotating properly (don’t believe so as once defrosted fridge stays cool and you can feel the air being moved around by the fan).
For my money has to be a faulty defrost heater circuit, either the heater or the sensor / PCB that runs the heater has failed, so ice builds up and blocks the passage of air over the cooling fins, then causes the pipes to the water dispenser to freeze and eventually it stops the fan, and the fridge stops cooling.
Trying to figure out which part to replace is tricky !
I have an engineer coming out next Monday to look at it, but hoping to understand what parts etc.. Are required to fix it so I can be prepared for the repair bill, I will be pursuing the retailer whom I brought the fridge from to cover the cost of repair under the sale if goods act, but that’s a story for another day 🙂

[list=]My RSH5 developed fridge temperature issues contacted Samsung service provider J P R REFRIGERATION LIMITED who replaced sensor stating it was a manufacturing component fault causing into to frost up very similar the the notorious RS20 and RS21 problems raised on watchdog in 2010. As my fridge is only 3 years old attempting to get reimbursed for the £111.60 charged for the fix.
