ParticipantHi All,
I’ve searched the forum for something similar and cannot find anything so here goes…
Samsung upright “american” fridge freezer: RSH7UNBP (Rev. 01)
Bought with the house when we moved a month ago, so I don’t know the history of the device past that!Seems to be functioning normally (no smells/noises/broken lights – keeps temperature/ice and water work)
However – whenever I open the door of the either the fridge or the freezer the display lights up with what I assume is supposed to be the temperature (both sides of the display at the bottom, 2 double 7-segment displays), but it appears to have some segments broken / dimmer.
I haven’t been able to analyse whether it is always the same segments (suggesting the display?) or whether it is randomly just not right (suggesting the PCB?) because I don’t actually know what it is supposed to show!
After reading the forum I would most likely try the double-top button press reset thing – but as mine seems to be a completely different fault to all those reported that I’ve seen (as in purely the display – not the function) and display faults are not in the error codes list… fairly logically – you couldn’t use a display to show a display fault I guess 😳 …
So I thought it worth a post to see if this is familiar to any of you knowledgeable people
I can post pictures later when I am home if they will help anyone…
Here’s hoping!

Hi
The problem could be either the main PCB or the front control panel.the display is supposed to only come on when the door is opened.

Thanks Bryan for the speedy reply!
Any idea how I could work out which it is?
It seems there are replacement parts for either but as they are not cheap I’d prefer to avoid buying both if I can! Thanks again
