    Hi,

We have a 5ish year old Samsung RSH7ZNRS which items in the freezer have been getting a bit soft. Its still coolish in the freezer part but not getting near to the temperature set. The fridge seems to be fine.
We have the freezer set for -23c which it says it is on that on the display. If we turn the unit off at the mains then back on is shows around -4c then slowly goes to -23c on the display. It doesn’t get to that temperature inside though.

Im not sure if this has anything to do with it but we have noticed for quite some time that when the compressor goes off it makes a loud clank/bang sort of noise once then everything is quiet. This happens every time it goes off.

Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

    Many thanks 🙂

Temperature is staying around -6 inside the freezer.

Any clues to what it could be anyone?

    Thanks 🙂

Any recommendations for a repairer in the NE24 area please as it’s got me baffled.

Spoke with Samsung via chat and i asked if it could be the compressor on its way out and i was told “It may be, since it produces unusual sounds. It may also be the thermostat that is supposed to regulate the cooling of the appliance.”

If its a thermostat is this a possible self fix and if so can i buy the part from here?

They gave me a number for an service engineer company that is miles away and said “Rest assured that getting in touch with our service centre will have your appliance repaired with the same level of expertise at a fair price.”

If its the compressor i was told “the motor of the appliance has a 10 year part warranty. If it is the one that is faulty, you will not pay for the new one. However, there will still be charges with the labour.”

What sort of cost should i expect to pay for the labour if its the compressor that needs replacing?

    Thanks in advance

Are the forums still used by “the people that can help and support”?

Samsung are expensive for there Labour and it may be cheaper to get an independent engineer.

It sounds like a system fault. Compressor or Gas.

Not a DIY repair and you need someone familiar with Samsung Appliances.

As the liner is cracked I would say it has other problems with the defrost system overheating and cracking the liner.

You may be better off saving. Your money and putting it towards another fridge freezer as the RSH7 was not the most reliable of American fridge freezers In my opinion. But Samsung fridge freezers did keep me in business before I retired.

Thanks for your help Bob 🙂

The freezers reached the best temp of -10 today so it looks like i’ll have to shop about for a new unit but I think i’ll give Samsung a swerve for my next fridge/freezer.

    Haha, thanks again Bob
