ParticipantHave had this american style ff since 2003 with no problems until recently.
We first noticed a smell in the fridge, then noticed the temperature was wrong (the outside still read the correct temp, but putting a thermometer inside showed it as being nearly room temperature), but the freezer was fine – like this for about a week before we called and engineer.
The engineer re-gassed it, said all would be well.
The fridge and freezer both got down to temperature, but although the door readouts stayed constant, the internal temperatures went up and the ff did not kick back in until the power was turned off then back on. The same cycle was then repeated.
The engineer replaced a circuit board at the back.
The ff never re-started – one flashing bar in the door readout. stood turned off over the weekend

Any clues?
The engineer said it may not be repairable. Not good – we’ll be stuch with an in car cooler instead of a fridge and no freezer, as I cant afford 600 quid to replace it

Hi
It sounds like the engineer may not have known what he was doing..
The pcb’s on this model are reliable, the fault would probably have been either the defrost heater/sensor/thermal fuse.
Which bar was showing on the front display ? imagine that its a digital 8 .
Where abouts are you ?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, at least there is some hope 😀
Pretty sure it was the top bar of the eight.
We are near middlesborough.

Hi
Hold the top right & top left buttons in together..they will flash and then should go off after approx 10 seconds. It will then come up with these bars if there has been a fault within the past 12 hours. Is there any faults showing ?

Just done that – no bars showing at all. The board has been replaced since the bar showed though, and it still seems to get to temperature and then not re-start

Hi
If the appliance is getting down to temprature and then shutting down..does it restart if turned off then turned back on ?
If it does restatrt then yes the problem will be the defrost heater/sensor/thermal fuse in the fridge section.

Thats exactly what it does – I’ve got it on a mechanical timer to turn the power off and back on every hour or so to make it work.
Thanks for that, I’ll try another engineer
