    Hi Nige
Thermal fuse is probally the cause of cutting out problem. I am sure on this model when it does defrost it waits for temp change on sensor & with fuse open circuit no heater so just sits there. Probally sensor has caused it to stick on defrost and blow thermal fuse. For this problem display on door reads normal when machine cuts out but when you switch off power and reset it reads actual temp.

nobodys perfect i must admit that i would have checked the thermal fuse.

I feel though the thermal fuse is in the wrong place.

As this happens on the new rs21.Sensor is ok but fuse o/c.

Best thing would be to replace sensor and the thermal fuse but move the fuse upto the top were the connectors are as in the original position it is strapped onto the heater.

Maybe the original fault was heater open circuit hes refitted the fuse onto the heater and when it came on fuse blows.

You may never know what the original diagnosis was so dont blame all the experts.

The company has gone off line today but there are as many dodgy engineers out there as independants than eac engineers.

    just a bit bitter.

suppose still proud of being an expert engineer loyal till that last bitter end.

I look at myself as being the best of the best used to be always in the top 10 of my region with first time calls completed.

its a bit scary being your own boss but saying that done 16 jobs this week on a 3 day week after taking van back to depot.

Expert Cat may be able to confirm this but during my training course last week it came up that Samsung had been having problems with the thermal fuse. Original is wrapped up with a piece of foam sheet, engineers were fitting the replacement without wrapping this foam around causing premature failure of fuse. The original fuse was set at 73C but I note that the ones supplied to us this week are at 77C.

The fuses still blow on the ones wrapped with foam.

All of the ones I have changed have come back my advice would be to not fit the thermal fuse near the heater.

I have moved the thermal fuse upto the area where the connectors are and they have not come back.

Would also advise replacing the sensor as these have been a problem.
