My Samsung SR-S2026CVW stops cooling both ‘fridge and freezer after a few hours operation, though the display still shows -18C and 4C. The freezer defrost circuit appears OK but I’ve identified that the refrigerator defrost circuit has a problem, in that the thermal fuse, the defrost heater and the drain heater are all open circuit. The sensing thermistor reads about 110k ohms at room temperature.

I’m about to order replacements, but I’m surprised that all three parts have blown, rather than just the fuse, and that there may therefore be another fault which caused this.

I’d appreciate comments and advice from anyone in the know

Re: Samsung Side by Side defrost problem

    Hi

it may be possible that the thermal fuse and defrost heater has failed at the same time and the drain heater is in line with the defrost heater so if that was ok then you would get false readings.

if as you say the defrost heater has failed then when it is purchased new it will come with a new thermal fuse and defrost sensor.

I can supply the parts from stock if you require them,e-mail me at R600A@HOTMAIL.COM.

As for testing the defrot sensor at room temprature..” forget it “.htere is a scale dependant on the room temprature depends on the resistance which doesnt alway become reliable.

Re: Samsung Side by Side defrost problem

    Greetings

I have exactly the same problem with the same model. What appears to happen is that the compressor works until the thermostat shuts it off as it has reached the required temperature. It then never restarts but if you disconnect it from the mains it will then operate again until the temperature has again dropped to a point where the compressor shuts off.

I am no sufficiently technical to carry out the tests the first user performed. Is this a known problem with this model. Mine is just out of warranty

    Regards

Re: Samsung Side by Side defrost problem

This is usually a defrost problem, there are several components that can fail, any one of them can cause your symptons.

    Sorted!!
Thanks to Bryan (r600a) for the advice and supplying the parts. Fitted a new fridge defrost heater and sensor, thermal fuse and drain heater and she’s working fine.
