Brokenfridge
ParticipantMy samsung stopped working a while ago and I was told that the main PCB had propably failed. I bought a replacement but can’t find where the old one is located. I removed the back panel but can’t see it anywhere !
The Model is SR-S20, and it was purchased in 2001/2.
Can anyone help ?????? 😥

ParticipantThanks kheath,
I did see a white plastic box when I had the back off the fridge but it had some other components fixed to it and it looked a bit tricky to remove.
Are there any tricks of the trade (as I am a novice !) ?

ParticipantBryan, the original fault was that the fridge and freezer just stopped one day without warning.

in that case….stop and seek professional help.
At the end of the day you won’t see an electronic component fault on the PCB unless its “blown”, that means you have to find the cause of that. So call it a day…go into repairs@ make contact with a local repairer, see where you go from there.

you say its an sr-s20xx
the 2 x’s will help! But i imagine it has ice and water.
1)unplug
2)take off back panel
3)Remove screw holding power cable in place
4)remove screw holding water distribution valve
5)Move water valve to the left slightly
6)gently pull creamy coloured pcb case out, you eill notice wiring loom too move that to left slightly unit comes out
7)On 1 side you “may” have a screw holding case together-remove
8)Prise case apart
9)Remove and fit new PCB
10)Do everything in reverse to refit (notice 2 spikes on pcb case they locate back properlyBut yes would have been best to get engineer out to check, seems very strange that one, might not be PCB

Hi I have exactly the same problems with my Samsung side by side.
After various engineer call outs, when they defrosted with a hairdryer….we have been doing the same.First we only had problems with the fridge side. However now,the freezer side is acting up too.We are having to defrost every week or do and it’s driving me crazy. In fact we can only put frozen giids in the bottom drawer of the freezer, the rest only can be used as a fridge. The bottom of the fridge stays cold, but the top half is too warm to use. This was an expensive mistake, looks pretty but has been useless! It started to go wrong only a month out of guarantee.
Any ideas?May 12, 2005 at 9:05 pm #132691Dave_Conway

I would call an engineer and get it resolved, there was another thread this eveing with a similar problem and it turned out to be just the defrost heater at fault which is a strightforward enough repair.
Try repairs@ for someone, or pop your postcode up here.

Hi all,
I finally got around to calling in a fridge engineer to my Samsung side by side fridge freezer. Although I had fully defrosted all the ice lying behind the upper crisper tray, I could not get the inside back panel off to see what was behind it. The engineer couldn’t remove it at first, but used a wallpaper steam stripper and gradually freed up the panel so that it could be removed. Behind it was a wall of ice that had stopped the fan from running and allowed ice to build up more rapidly. Once he had defrosted everything, the fan started to run freely again and the fridge reached its correct temperature after about an hour.
He warned me that the same thing was probably going to happen on the freezer side, but at least I know how to tackle that when it occurs. It’s a simple job once you have watched someone else do it, there is no need to pay an engineer. The hardest part was melting the ice but a wallpaper steamer minus the wall-plate does the trick in minutes. You may have to repeat the exercise every 2 or 3 years as the ice builds up again.June 12, 2005 at 3:00 pm #132693admin
KeymasterHi All i had the same problem with my samsung frige as it was not reaching temp the problem was the usual build up of f ice when you have drefrosted it and removed the panel inside the frige (at the back) you need to in sure that the water drain hole in the back of the lower panel is not block or frozen up or you will have the same fault each weak.

Good info Captain but that still doesn’t remove the existing underlying problem that caused the ice to build up in the first place.
Defrosting is only ever a temporary resolution unless the door has been left ajar accidentally 😀
