My Samsung SR-L39 stopped working after 10 years. Turning power off then on will restart fridge/freezer.However once it has reached correct operating temperature in both fridge and freezer it will turn itself off, which I suppose is normal, but won’t restart automatically when interior temps begin to rise. An off/on cycle will then start the unit and so on.
The engineer pronounced the thermostat OK and said a new printed circuit was necessary. This has now been fitted but has not fixed the problem. Any ideas please? There is obviously a point where not worth spending any more money on a 10 year old unit and buying a new one?

    HI

Defrost heater will need to be replaced…once in defrost if the appliance doesnt reach +17oc on the freezer evaperator the unit will stay in defrost.by turning the unit off then back on you are resetting the time.
e-mail me at samsung@ffrservices.co.uk if you want us to supply the part.

Many thanks. My engineer has been trying unsuccessfully to get defrost heater replacement since our last exchange of messages on Sept 05. Can you help please? The handbook calls it Samsung Model SR-L39. On the side of the f/f is a sticky label ” SL 39WJI/XEU.”
Even though it is 10 years old it would be a shame to have to scrap it as I think it is energy rating A.
    Thanks.
