Samsung SR-S2026CVW – defrost sensor or control board?

My friend has problems with her fridge/freezer and we looked at the forums here. The machine cools properly, but after a while warms again and stays warm unless it is turned off and on again when the same thing happens. The diagnostic readout shows nothing. It seems the symptoms are a common problem and the advice here is that the defrost sensor, or heater is the likely culprit.

Using repairs@ she chose a repairer to come and fix it. She was surprised that the engineer did not do any tests apart from checking the gassing and said he did not know what the problem was and he would have to speak to Samsung. Today he called to say they have told him the control board needs replacing at a cost of hundreds of pounds. This seems to fly in the face of the advice given by the experts here.

We are sure he and Samsung have it wrong. Can anyone help please?

would look at the thermal fuses first, if i were you.

Thanks for that. The thermal fuses on both sides read about 1 ohm, so they seem ok. I am getting a resistance reading off the defrost heater and drain heater on the freezer. The drain heater on the fridge side also, but the defrost heater on the fridge appears open circuit.

Have I found the problem? I can’t understand how an o/c heater causes the symptoms I have. If it is that, where do I get a new heater please and can I assume the defrost sensors are OK?

The problem wont be the board,The unit will go into a defrost every 8 hrs,If the unit doesnt reach +17 oc then it wont restart.

It may be the defrost sensor that is faulty.
