ParticipantHi. I have a Samsung SR-S2026CVW which runs OK for a short while then goes overtemp in the freezer.
The digital display shows temp of fridge and freezer. When set to -20 on the freezer it can rise as high as +11 inside (verified by using a separate freezer probe. The display shows -20 but flashing when this happens. The display does not reflect the true temperature inside the freezer.
Powering off and on again shows +11 on the freezer display, the correct temperature. It cools to -15ish straight away after the power up.
Any ideas what may be wrong? I am an electrician so have some good testing tools but not much freezer repair knowledge!
Control panel has a diagnostic feature that shows no errors by the way.
Thanks in advance

Hi
The first area that I would be checking is the fridge defrost area, either the defrost heater, thermal overload or defrost sensor.the drain heater also needs to be disconnected when testing the defrost heater as it is in line.
The defrost sensors need to reach +17oc to come out of defrost if the fridge defrost has failed this will cause the symptom you are describing.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don’t have a manual for this unit so a few questions:
1. Where are the defrost heater, thermal overload, defrost sensor and drain heater located and what do they look like?
2. If defrost is automatically called for, when should the defrost cycle kick in? Faults occur generally a few hours after turning off and on again.
3. If the freezer fails defrost as you say, I can understand why it wants to keep raising the temp. I have not asked it to do this so I presume it is automatic. Can I reset it somehow and force a cycle later?
4. Is there a downloadable engineer’s manual for this appliance?

Hi
The defrost is approx every 8 hours and is automatic,As general public the only way top reset is to do a repair as there is no time limit on the defrost on this model,it will shut down until it reaches +17oc or if you switch it off then after 10 mins turn back on it will resart for another 8 hours but wont cure the problem.

Thanks r600a.
Is there just a defrost heater for the fridge? If so how does this affect the freezer?
