My Samsung SR-S2028 is causing the house RCD to trip. I have narrowed the fault down to the Defrost Heater,R/IceMaker Pipe Heater circuit – by disconnecting this from the PCB the RCD does not trip.

Presumably one of the heaters is at fault, any idea which one?

Also, having disconnected this cct the appliance seems to work normally i.e. it cools to set temperatures and seems to stay there for some time (12 hours or more) but at some time it begins to warm up. I came down the following morning and the freezer had warmed up to 3 degrees. It’s now working again after a power recycle but I suspect it will start to warm up again.

You will need a mega/insulation meter to establish which one it is unless there is a clear distortion or burn mark, even then still an element (scuse the punn) of risk.

Managed to isolate the defrost heater and RCD doesn’t trip so suspect it’s this one.

Having reconnected it RCD remains stable but I’m getting an error 3 on power up which I think relates to an o/c or disconnected heater. It’s possible it’s completely given up now which might explain why RCD is no longer tripping.

    Hi

The defrost heater will be your culprit, the error 3 isnt a error its a book up version.

I have the defrost heaters in stock. samsung@ffrservices.co.uk
