I have a similar fridge/freezer which developed similar problems to those described above.
No faults were displayed when doing the fault diagnosis test, but nevertheless the fridge/freezer combination was faulty. What I found was that, if I turned the mains off and back on again this reset the fridge/freezer and the current temps were then displayed correctly and it cooled both fridge and freezer down to the selected temps. It then would stop chilling and would steadily defrost.
Having read the above posts I got an engineer to come out. After much testing he discovered the fault lay with my fridge defrost heater. This part comes integrated with an evaporator but he was able to separate it and replaced only the defective heater. This meant that a full recharge of refridgerant was not required.
Was happy to get it all working again. Cost £165.00

Just to say that an engineer came yesterday with the new evaporator part. As “vent333” and others recommended, I’d removed the old defrost heater and the new one fitted easily. The Samsung is working nicely and I can now try and lose some of the weight I’ve put on eating too many take-aways over the last few weeks 😉
“vent333”, have you now found the part you need? The evaporator packaging has the following code: DA96-00013B. Is this any help? The cost for the evaporator was just £37.95 and the call-out charge was a similar amount (and that included VAT!) Hmmm, I think I may have been under-charged!!

Hi
The part number you have supplied is the drain heater not defrost heater.
You havent had the evaperator cover changed or the sensors ect.

Oh really?? I just did a quick search on the web:
http://www.4mysamsung.co.uk/cgi-bin/search.pl?parts_search=s&model=DA96-00013b&part=
It looks like an Evaporator assembly to me BUT obviously you know better 😉

KeymasterYep, that’s a Connect Distribution site, anything starting with a “4” usually is and probably Bryan does know better. 😉

Hi
Yep you do seem to be right and yes you have been under charged but the evap assembly thats been fitted is the older unit which does not come with the latest defrost sensor.
The part numbers for the drain heater is very close to that you stated and yes when you are dealing with parts every day you can make a mistake..were all human.Bryan

Chilled: Sounds good.
You were definiteley undercharged for the evaporator.
I am still in the loop..4mysamsung have been unable to identify the part. The said they had and then sent me an evaporator cover!! Excuse that Samsung must have given them the wrong number.
However I have been on to Samsung..after much (much) discussion they advise that the SR S2028 CVW is replaced by the RS21DCSV / RS21DCNS (different colour options).
They advise the evaporator assembly required is different from the one you have:http://www.4mysamsung.co.uk/cgi-bin/sea … 013n&part=
It looks to me as though this is the updated part with the new defrost sensor. Samsung seem to change the last letter as they update compatible parts.
The new evaporator is winging its way to me as I write. No more take aways for me either!! (Hopefully!!!)
In any event looks like you got a bargain. Either evaporator costs £60.
Cheers
