Hi I have the frost free Samsung SRL3216B/XEU, and for for the last Few days it has been room temperature in both the fridge and freezer compartments with only the single 3rd led light on top on. I have been reading the forums and tried the following;
Turning it off and on at the mains always results in the compressor and fan going on then switching off.
I let it thaw for over 24 hours no effect.
I looked at the defrost heater area and it was just wet no ice build up.
Can anyone advice me on what the problem may be and is it fixable. Could it be the compressor relay switch, defrost switch or the defrost heater I am not good with electronics or testing, though may be able to fit simple bits.

No simple fixes on a samsung the fault on your model could be a thermal fuse.
Without testing it is impossible to tell as it could be a number of things.
If you turn it off you need to leave it off for ten minutes before turning it back on, as it can seize the compressor if you turn it off then back on strait away.
This is because the back pressure in the system is too great for it to start up.
The thermal fuse is in the defrost section in the freezer near the defrost heater.
It has a red and black wire to it and it is attached to the side of the evaporator and should have continuity on the circuit.
If it is open circuit then it is faulty.
If the thermal fuse is ok then it would be beyond a DIY repair.
It could then be a defrost heater or compressor or PCB fault.
Make sure any testing of parts is done with the appliance unplugged from the mains supply.

Thank you for your reply Bob I shall have a look at the thermal fuse and take it from there.

Hello now the appliance shuts down with a single 3rd light still and after a while warming up ie room temperature switches it self on to cool again. Does this narrow down the problem?
