    Been to this one with the early evaporator cover. Heater low insulation and something has got too hot and melted black material all over defrost sensor wiring, evaporator,drip tray and cover. Foil insulation on rear of cabinet behind evaporator is burnt/split/blue also (have pics). Thermal fuse has not gone though.
    I do not know whether to walk away from this one or if it is safe to repair.I have not seen this before.
    Would appreciate your comments.

    ive had this. i just cleaned it up appliance repaired ok. Dont know what it is though.

    yep me too, the one I had blocked the defrost channel hole, got it written off. It looks like the element is too close to the pipework and the stuff that melts is the pipework insulation.

    Ta all. Was worried about fire. Looks like it came from around evaporator pipework solder joint. Cust has decided to replace anyway.
