ParticipantMy problem is this. I have a three year old Samsung side by side srs2028 the display shows a temp of -18 for the freezer and 0 for the fridge. None of the button on the front panel work so I cannot change the temp. I dont want to change either of the PCBs just incase I replace the wronge one thats if it is one of the PCBs or could something else be the cause of this problem. Please if somebody can point me in the right direction I would be greatful.

Participantsounds like either the lock button is on or the wiring loom has let water drip onto display pcb connection

Thanks for that Expertcat.
The only button that work on the display panel is the lock button, press and hold it locks press and hold again it unlocks. But still no other button works. Is there a way of testing the display PCB ? In the mean time I will check the connections.
Thanks again.September 13, 2006 at 8:00 pm #188284expertcat
Participantdisplay board very reliable only ever had to replace 1 and that was door to water leaking onto dispaly board connector plug in door and carroded connector.
Had to replace both door and display board.
Apart from that went to one last week with the same fault cleaned away corrosion and advised if fault comes back she will need new door and pcb.
To me worth a repair.

I have cured this fault in the past with a little squirt of good old WD40 on the corroded plug. Worth a try maybe?

Thanks guys.
I have checked the connection on the display PCB it looks perfect no sign of water and I have sprayed a little wd to be on the safe side.
Last night for no reason the door open warning sound started and the door open display light came on the temp changes from between -1 to 7, I checked to see if the light was staying on after the door is shut but that seems ok. Could this be a sign of a problem from something other than the possible problem with the display PCB?September 16, 2006 at 7:31 am #188287expertcat
Participantyou probably did have moisture on the bought wd40 got rid of it so it started to work.
If its happy leave it
But if you would like to pay for a air ticket i would happily come over to look at it…..
