During a fairly bored period (waiting for the rain to stop, to complete a job on the car…), I was idly clicking around on TDS. Here’s a Q for all you Zan specialists. What’s the config code for a ZWD1680W (91460163800)?

    Why?

According to TDS 2006, both ZWD1480 (the lovely wife’s pride and joy…) and 1680 have the same config.

Eh? I’d be interested to know what the correct code for the 1600- spin machine is 😉

If the only difference between the two machines is the top spin speed, it may be that there is no speed control on the split field spin; therefore the module only needs to know that it has to switch to the split field function? That would allow the configuration to remain the same for the two.

    How’s that for logic? 😕

    Chris.

Both units list the same motor, Chris. That’s what confuses me a touch…

I’ve often wondered about spin speeds, are they always what they claim? Sometimes there is an obvious difference in drum pulley size but in other cases it can be hard to tell which component makes the difference. I always suspected the older Hotpoint 800 spin machines actually did more than 800 rpm.

Well on this occasion certainly, my optical tacho tells me that speed control is actually remarkably close, considering that the tacho signal is coming off the motor and there’s an elastic belt in the way.
