ParticipantHello I have a chest freezer that i store my home-brew kegs in. I have modified it slightly it got a leak in the walls somewhere. So i got an old fridge for free striped the motor with cooling plate attached & fitted it to my beer chest fridge.

But the reason for posting is that it is probably quite energy inefficient as it was an old fridge motor used. I was wondering if it would be worth fitting a savaplug to save energy. But i have a LAE MTR12 external digital controller fitted to control the temperature. It cuts the power supply when it reaches the temperature required would a Savaplug be compatible with this devise. Cheers better go & pour myself another cool beer. :rolls: 😀 😀June 20, 2007 at 7:15 am #217707kwatt

Bob, you’re off your rocker! 😆
I thought I was bad getting a US fridge with ice.
At a rough guess on this, literal, home brew arrangement the old compressor will be less efficient than a new one almost for sure but with the controller on it I would hazard a guess at the Savaplug not being compatible. It seems that those things and electronics just don’t mix but there’s only one way to find out, test it.

Cheers Kwatt i think i will give it a go think i might be ok the controller is basically just a power breaker that cut the power to the fridge plug.Use them to control pumps & allsorts in my little brewery. If it doesn’t do i can use it in the house anyway. 😀 😀
