Got a recalcitrant Washing Machine. My attempts to discipline, coerce and bribe haven’t worked yet 👿 . My wife is enduring but beginning to wonder if my reputation of being able to fix anything may actually be just propaganda 😳 !

It’s a F&P SmartDrive708 7.5kg top loader.

Diagnostics come up 00100101 which equates to error code 37. Did I say this web site is the best? Took out the pump. How easy was that! Returns 29 ohms. Should be 35? Anyway, bought a new one – $48 AUD, not too bad. It measures 35 Ohms – so far, so good. Put it in. Agghh! Same error code. Under diagnosis mode the hot and cold water obeys my finger press. No spin but water pumps out when ‘regular’ is pressed. It actually did all that with the old pump.

So, now I’m getting serious. Off with the top. Blow down the pressure tube and I hear air coming out the other end in the bowels of the bowl. Methinks that’s good because it sounds like what someone told someone to do in this cool forum. So, I go further. Out with the pressure switch thinking it may be stuck in a certain position. Blow, suck, blow, suck. It seems to get easier and the movement free-er. Maybe I was on to something. Closing up and getting out. One last look, all seems well. Back together, top on. Plug in…

Agghh!!

No change, no start, silence. In diagnostic mode it still lets hot or cold in, still pumps out when pressing ‘regular’.

I’m on my knees now. It’s not about the cost of the repair man, it’s about my REPUTATION!!! What will the family think!? Years of fixing anything and everything finally beaten by the mysterious 00100101.

37, specifically means that no change in water level has been detected within three minutes. From your post, we can assume that the pump is fine, therefore the problem lies with the water level sensor. Whilst this is a pressure operated device, it is extremely sensitive – pressurising the tube to operate the armature will not do it any good at all. It is an integral part of the motor controller board, not a spare part, so you’ll either have to replace the board or bag a scrapper and swap the part across and hope it works. Bear in mind that there is a driver circuit and comparator array being fed by the level sensor, either or both could be faulty.

Hero status will be most quickly restored by sourcing a replacement PCB.

Sourced a replacement PCB. No more 00100101 – yipee! 😛
Now I’ve got 00001001 a size error (code 9) by the looks. :rolls:
Tried every peice of advice I could find in the posts for size error but just can’t make a change. I never hear the 4 beeps. The spin speed is always on the highest so pressing ‘up’ to get to ‘hold’ just doesn’t go anywhere.

Is this a ‘wait for the planets to line up’ kind of pressing procedure or am I overcomplicating it?

Could you be so kind as to say exactly when to press and let go of each button in the sequence. 😳 I know this must be frustrating but it would help me a lot.

Reminder – it’s a F&P SmartDrive 708 ([GW708-U] I think) 7.5kg top loader. Lime green electronics housings.

You said it was a green PCB GW708 pcb is Generally Yellow
Green PCb Is For a GW 703
Size Setting For This is differwnt
Press & hold StartPaiuse Button then power
Press power Again to Store in memory

What color was original PCB ?And there should be part # on Old PCB

Part # for GW708 Shouls Be 426204 (yellow)

GW703-U with green pcb. 😳
From something I read on this forum somewhere I traced the lid swith. Sure enough, it was stuffed. Took it out and closed the circut.

Everything works! 😀 (but a little less safe)
4 loads later it’s still going. The line is full of drying washing.
My reputation is restored. Breakfast in bed, adoration and ‘king of the heap’ once again. 🙂
