Started to defrost this morning turned it up but it has now completely defrosted. I have lost the manual so I am starting to wonder if i have misunderstood the controls. I have increased the dial from 3 to 4. It is difficult totell if the compressoris running as it is against a wall and the fridge has its own compressor. i have switched it off for a reset any other advice?

There could be many reasons for the freezer to defrost ranging from loose connections to a faulty compressor.
Unless you are of an electrical engineering mind then its best to call an engineer.
You could try Repairs@ to see if there is someone local to you.
