KeymasterHi,
The fridge section on my Scandinova frost free fridge freezer has stopped working – again. Last time it was the thermostat and I’m guessing that it’s gone again and I’d rather have a go at fitting it myself. Any idea which one I’d need and where I could get it from? Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave.
I can’t find this model listed against any manufacturer, it wa probably imported by Comet and rebadged.
Can you remove the thermostat and post up any numbers on it please, the liklehood is a universal type will do the trick.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Firstly the fridge thermostat has been replaced before and I don’t know if an exact copy of the original was used. Also the capilary is soo long it loops around the back of the refrigeration plate, it’s corroded and has discoloured the back of the fridge, is that normal? Any ideas on the best way to remove the discolouration (looks rusty coloured)?
Can the capiliary be shortened? The thermostat is a Danfoss but I’m not sure of the model, the numbers that look promising on the ‘stat housing are:
25T65
EN60730-2-9Funny thing is that as opened the top part that houses the electronics the damn fridge started up so I’m wondering if there was some kind of short there. It’s all exposed now and I’ll probably replace the thermostat anyway.
Many thanks for your helpCheers
Dave

Not normally no, it’s discoloured the liner, almost impossible to remove.

No ! If you buy one with a long capillary as required by yours as the stat itself is in the lid, it’s best to coil the excess somewhere, but not in the fridge as has been done before.
You can get a Ranco replacement from the shop here which will do the trick, the link is here:

Hope this helps.
